Questions about the comprehensive assessment

How is this different from an ADHD assessment?

An ADHD assessment looks at attention, activity and impulsivity against the ADHD diagnostic criteria only. The comprehensive assessment looks at learning, behaviour and emotions together.

Do we need a GP referral?

No. Parents can contact Psychology House directly. Referrals from GPs, school psychologists, psychiatrists, paediatricians and other health professionals are also welcome.

Does Medicare cover it?

Psychological and educational assessments are generally not covered by Medicare, even with a GP mental health plan. Some private health insurers cover parts of the process, so check with yours.

How long does it take?
